The Story follows the characters from its predecessor Happy Bigamist, but the ladies, Anita Mui and Pat Ha, are now unable to tolerate them and leave their husbands Anthony Chan and Kenny Bee. Unable to proceed with the shock, they decide to support each other to get through this phase while living together. Jealousy again soon kicks in when Cherie Chung enters their lives, both falling in love with her.

The Story is pretty basic, and spends a lot of time on the setup. The characters aren't too well developed either. The whole movie solely is with the 3 characters, with all others playing just cameos. For this much of screen time, its pretty poorly managed with just a few laughs. The jokes are fine just like the original. But when the amount of interactions are limited to just between three characters, it pales in comparison.

The acting performances are adequate. Anthony Chan carries the whole film. Kenny Bee is fine in his usual role, but given this movie has only its thress main characters spending all the time on screen, it feels more character building should have been done. Cherie Chung's character has the same problem with very little comedy, the audience is just left having to wait it out till she makes her make a decision. Where the original had Anita Mui's Character upping the humor quotient, this one solely depends on Anthony Chan. Without much contrast from the other actors, this gets stale. A better movie would have included both Anita Mui and Pat Ha as the main cast along with these three. But its a missed oppurtunity.

The production is great and as with the original this has some odd ideas, visuals and sounds which are interesting to watch from a cinematographic view but these are merely for the satisfaction of the director and not pursued with any big bearing on the movie.

Somehow despite having all the ingredients of a great retro movie, this one oddly doesn't do it. The scenes, locales and themes all have the 80's feel but yet they don't scratch the retro itch. It's still a curious watch especially if you have seen the first one and wish to see a follow up. But otherwise the movie is very underdeveloped to be considered worth watching. A better option would be to see the previous film Happy Bigamist.
